Terms and Conditions

As a condition of booking an appointment for this special offer you agree to these terms and conditions. You must mention this offer when booking your appointment to qualify for the special price.

How often can I claim the offer?

This offer is limited to one per patient during the term of the offer, although we may allow additional uses of the offer in our discretion. Included in the price is a comprehensive dental examination.

Will I pay a fee if I cancel my appointment?

If you cancel an appointment for the special offer services without giving us 48 hours’ notice on more than one occasion, you must pay a $50 cancellation fee and you will not be eligible for this, or any other, special offer in future unless we decide in our discretion to allow you to do so.

How often should I have a comprehensive dental examination?

If you have had a dental examination within the past 12 – 24 months, then you may not need one. It depends on a number of factors including your age and dental history etc. If you have had a dental examination within that period there may, however, be a reason why you should have another one sooner, for example: tooth or gum pain, poor brushing practices, impact to the mouth, chipped or cracked tooth, etc.

Do I need X-rays?

Tooth decay does tend to show physical signs early on. X-rays are an important tool that allows us to confirm if you have tooth decay or infection around the roots of your teeth or bone loss. Spotting these problems early can enable us to provide better treatment. Mandurah Dental Surgery does not encourage the indiscriminate or unnecessary use of X-rays or other dental services. If you have had an X-ray within a certain period before your visit, you may not need them again at this time, unless there is something about your particular circumstances which make it appropriate to have that service earlier than normal. How often you should have dental X-rays will depend on various factors including past and present oral health, an examination of your mouth, your age, risk of disease and any early symptoms of oral disease.

If it is your first visit to our practice and we are unable to access recent X-rays from your previous dentist, we will normally recommend that you have two “bite-wing” X-rays – one on each side of your mouth.

As part of the comprehensive examination our dentist will assess whether you would benefit from dental X-rays. We must obtain your informed consent before commencing any dental treatment, including X-rays and will advise you the price for the same.

What are the risks of the services in this offer?

All dental treatment carries risks. Risks of particular treatment will be explained to you where it is good dental practice for us to do so or you ask us for information about them.

When does gap-free payment through my health fund apply?

If:

you have health insurance with one of the funds whose logos appear on the home page at https://www.mandurahdental.com.au/, and

you have a plan with that health fund under which it pays us its full schedule fee for the services you receive under this offer,

instead of the fee specified in the offer, we will charge you only your health fund’s schedule fee.

In many cases your health fund will pay us that amount direct at the time of your visit, so that there is no payment due from you. If, however, there is some issue which prevents the health fund paying us at the time of your visit, you will be liable to pay us that schedule fee at that time. If you do have the right cover, you should be able to claim this amount back from your health fund after the visit, however.

See our www.mandurahdental.com.au/health-fund-terms-conditions about how we accept payment from health insurance funds as payment for dental treatment. Those health fund terms also apply to this offer.

What if my dentistry fees are covered by the Department of Veterans Affairs?

If you are eligible to have your dental treatment paid for by the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) there will be no charge to you. In that case we will charge DVA the schedule fee which it specifies we may charge it for the service provided.

What if the patient is covered by the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule?

You must produce a valid Medicare card for the child who receives the treatment at the time of your visit. Where the child is eligible for treatment under the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (Schedule Fee) and the conditions in these terms and conditions are met, we will charge only the Schedule Fee for the services provided to that child direct to Medicare – there will be no amount due by you.

You acknowledge that Medicare will only pay for treatment under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule to the extent that the child has a remaining amount available in their 2-year, $1000 treatment coverage cap (Treatment Cap) sufficient to cover the cost of the treatment. If we can see that the child has a sufficient amount left in their Treatment Cap to pay for the services by accessing Medicare online at the end of the visit, we will charge Medicare directly with no payment due by you. (Sometimes we are unable to access this information from Medicare online, however).

If there are no remaining funds in the child’s Treatment Cap, or we cannot find out the remaining amount in the Treatment Cap from Medicare online, you will be required to pay our normal fee for the services provided to the child at the time of the visit or, if those services are covered by another special offer which you claim which specifies a lower fee than our normal fee, you will be required to pay only that lower special offer fee, at the time of the visit.

If the amount left in the child’s Treatment Cap is greater than $nil but less than the fee for the treatment specified in the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (Schedule Fee) we will charge you the Schedule Fee, we will claim the amount remaining in the child’s Treatment Cap from Medicare direct and you must pay the difference at the time of the visit.

How is the comparison fee of $67 calculated?

The comparison fee of $67 is the total of the average fees for each individual service charged by WA dentists according to the July 2022 survey by the Australian Dental Association. Under this special offer, those comparison fees are not payable by you.

The comparison fees are*:

Comprehensive examination (Item No 011) $67

*Amounts are rounded up to the nearest dollar.
